Q: Can you tell us more about your role in Cognizant Technology?

I am the head of the immigration department of Cognizant Technology Solutions Philippines, Inc.'s Global Mobility Center of Excellence (CoE) team. We focus on process improvement and compliance requirement for immigration.

Q: In your experience, what are the most challenging tasks in the HR and Global Mobility process?

To adhere to Government compliance requirements but still consider the operations requirements which are to ensure talent is available for assignment worldwide.

Q: What are the latest trends and developments in the Global Mobility and HR industry?

All countries tend to limit the issuance of WP to 1% to give priority local talent. Global Mobility and HR Industry comes up with different strategies to deliver the operations requirements but still ensure compliance with the government’s mandate.

Q: Do Cognizant Technology’s services influence your process in monitoring the HR and global mobility activities in your company? Or do you use a different software?

Cognizant came up with an application that evaluates documents better, track progress and process visa applications while generating reports for compliance mandate at the same time. The said application is called “Visa Request Application”. It saves us time, effort and money as we only allow global assignment for individuals who have a greater chance of visa approval and can commit adherence to the government mandate where he/she will be assigned.

Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to build a career in HR and global mobility?

For someone looking to build a career in HR and Global Mobility, he/she must know the true meaning of a “team”. “A team is not a group of people who work together. A team is a group of people who trust each other” – Simon Sinek.

Trust is a big word especially for a team whose members comes from different parts of the world. Trust can be achieved if one will always consider and respect one’s capability by giving him the space to grow and to contribute more.
