Australia has Strongest Growth in Net Overseas Migration in Four Years

The Australian Bureau of Statistic (ABS) announced the latest figures of Net Overseas Migration (NOM) showing that Australia is experiencing the strongest NOM in four years. The NOM added 193,200 people to Australia’s population, accounting for 55% of the country’s total population growth.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics Director, Beidar Cho comments:

This is in contrast to the declines of NOM of over 10 per cent experienced during 2014 and early 2015. But the current growth of NOM is well short of the record during 2009 when over 300,000 people were added to the population.

The NOM contributed greatly to the population in Victoria, South Australia, and New South Wales more than any other parts of Australia.
