Olivia Delgado – Senior Manager of Global Mobility at BMC Software

Ms Olivia Delgado has over14 years of HR and Global Mobility experience. She is currently the Senior Manager for BMC Software, an IT Services company in the US. With extensive experience as an HR and Global Mobility Manager, Ms Delgado shares her experiences and challenges in her full interview below.

Q: Can you give us a brief description of your role in BMC software?

I am responsible for strategic planning and execution of Mobility Programs; Immigration, Relocation and Expat administration. I also handle partnerships with various teams to identify business needs, provide consultation and solutions to meet business needs.

Q: What are the biggest challenges you face in dealing with Global Mobility Services?

Business is growing rapidly. Immigration requirements/criteria are not up to date with employment needs. 

The demand for talent across the globe requires critical planning, meeting business demands while mitigating deficiencies.

 

Q: What kinds of trends do you see developing in the Global Mobility Industry recently?

I may be the outlier; in my experience, the trend has always been flexibility. Corporate policies are helpful in defining the behaviour of the company; however, the steps taken require flexibility to capitalise on potential opportunities, making the complex appear seamless to the business and employees. 

Q: Do you use BMC Software’s tech or do you use other kinds of tech to monitor the HR and global mobility activities in your company?

Internal along with external tools are utilised to monitor, report and track.

Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to build a career in HR and global mobility?

Run the other way!
